Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 July 2026
These terms govern your use of thematicanalysis.ai (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service does
The Service is an AI-assisted tool that codes qualitative text — published study findings or your own participant data — and clusters those codes into themes using established qualitative frameworks. It is a research aid that produces a first-pass draft, not a finished analysis and not professional, legal, medical, or academic advice.
2. Your responsibilities
- You must have the right to use any text you paste, and you must anonymise participant data (remove names and identifiers) before analysing it, consistent with your ethics approval and institution's policies.
- You are responsible for reviewing and verifying every output. Check each quote against your source, confirm the themes fit your data, and correct or discard anything you cannot verify.
- You must not use the Service for unlawful purposes, to process data you are not permitted to process, or to attempt to overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the Service.
3. Academic integrity
If you use the Service for a dissertation, thesis, publication, or other assessed or published work, you are responsible for following your institution's or publisher's rules on the use and disclosure of AI assistance. The analysis is AI-assisted and must be reviewed by you; treat it as a starting point that you refine and take ownership of.
4. AI output and accuracy
AI-generated output can be incomplete, biased, or wrong, and can misread nuance. The Service instructs the model to ground codes in verbatim quotes, but you must not rely on any output without checking it. We make no warranty that outputs are accurate, complete, or fit for your particular purpose.
5. Free tier and payments
A free tier is available as described on the site (for example, a number of free studies per literature analysis, or a free word allowance for primary-data analysis). Paid options and checkout may be introduced; where prices are shown before checkout is live, they are indicative and may change. Any paid terms will be presented to you before you are charged.
6. Your content and our content
You keep all rights in the text you paste and in the reports you produce. We claim no ownership of them. You are granted a personal right to use the Service and its interface; the software, design, and site content remain ours and may not be copied or resold.
7. Availability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, and we apply rate limits to keep the Service running for everyone. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, thematicanalysis.ai is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the outputs, including academic, professional, or financial outcomes. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will carry a new “last updated” date.
